In 2004, a specialised dry mortar plant was built at Hullerhill with a capacity of 60 tonnes/per hour. Being located at the reserve of the white sand and with the brown sand quarries close by at Newhill and Garnock this allowed the company to enter into the market with a diverse wide range of products from masonry mortars to a range of decorative renders.
Through our specially designed on-site silos that are loaded at Hullerhill with a range of the pre-blended dry mortar products. These are then transported to site using a “placement” vehicle, which places the silo in the required position. Attached to the silo is a mixer, control panel, power and a water supply. This allows site operatives to control the water content to produce an easy to use, consistent mix. The silos are topped up as required using an internal fleet of Hugh King & Co specialised tankers.
In addition to the silo products, Hugh King & Co’s bagged portfolio has grown with the company through the years and now expanded to offering a range of specialised dry mortar products from; natural stone adhesives, concrete repair products, fairing coats, bedding mortars and fast setting post mixes. The second bagging system supplies general sand, aggregates, pre-coated chips and limestone chippings.
